How to Get the Money Mindset - 2
We’ve all given in to it. I know I have and over the years it has cost me dear in wasted time and wasted money. And if you’ve spent any time yourself as a newbie on the Internet I’d be more than willing to bet a few of the good dollars I didn’t waste that you have too.
I’m talking about that stubborn streak we all have. The one that won’t let us give up on that terrific idea that was going to make us rich. The obstinate part of all of us that refuses to allow us to admit that that e-book we just spent more good dollars on is yet another dud and that crucially, something is still missing.
For most of us new to trying to make money on the Net the learning curve is full of frustration, confusion and financial pain. It was for me. I listened to too many different messages from so-called gurus; raced up too many blind alleys; spent too much money; and for over a year earned almost nothing from my efforts while others, it seemed, were making fortunes.
I also developed a useful facility for blaming everything on something else, the gurus, the e-books, the Internet itself - anything but myself. And it took a long time before I was finally able to see the blame for the long chain of discarded ideas and dud projects belonged only to me. Either I hung on to a poor idea too long or jumped too quickly and easily from one project to the next. I became an Internet junky, and it wasn’t healthy.
But I still had absolute faith in the power of the World Wide Web as a place to build a business and I still do. And you should too. I thought long and hard about how others were establishing lucrative careers on the Net and eventually the penny hit the ground with an almighty clang. I realised that what I had to do was study what they did, and how they did it and then simply copy what I learned.
There was another lesson I learned at that time too. The smart money makers on the internet hadn’t started that way. Most, if not all, had opened their internet careers the same way I had - with frustration and failure. And when they did start to make money it was usually in a small way.
They found a niche, a single method and pursued it with vigour and determination. For some it was affiliate marketing; others created their own e-book products, yet others used online auction sites, and so on. Then, when they found success, they simply repeated the process with another product, another e-book, another auction. And when that worked they repeated the …..well, you get the idea.
With all that though, there was for most of them yet one more ingredient. It was, and still is for that matter, called a Mentor. Someone who had already had a measure of success at Internet marketing. Someone who could point them in the right direction and make sure they went on heading that way until, like all good apprentices, the time came when they were ready to strike out alone.
The message I am trying to convey to you is that even though you may be struggling right now to find the right way to take your share of the huge cash cow that is the Internet, you are not alone. Many have gone before, and many of them are good teachers with good programs that can help you get started. Find one you can trust and learn every lesson you possibly can.
And then take action, and having started, don’t stop. Don’t fall off the program the minute some sort of hurdle appears in your way. Or if your online marketing isn’t a huge success in the first week, or even month. If your Mentor used the program to his benefit it will work for you too.
